What is the ICS Strategy Atlas?
The ICS Strategy Atlas is now live, a new central ICS estates database that supports the development and maintenance of infrastructure strategies. Commissioned by NHS England, the ICS Strategy Atlas is held within SHAPE, the online data mapping and analysis tool that supports services and estates planning, and is free to access for NHS staff.
There are two core parts to the ICS Strategy Atlas:
Data management area

This section builds upon the preloaded data from sources such as ERIC and the previous Primary Care Data Gathering Programme, providing a database where you can review, validate and populate property information, creating a central, consistent repository.
Data mapping and analysis area

This section of the tool allows you to overlay and visualise data within maps, charts and graphs, supporting you with scenario planning and comparisons at a local, regional and national level. You can also use this section to help update your infrastructure strategy, particularly the ‘where are we now’ section.
The ICS Strategy Atlas is ideal for supporting business case development, as it creates a single source of truth, allowing both the authors and reviewers to work across the same data. This ensures the process is much more efficient and aligned, without the worry that different people are using different sets of data.
The ICS Strategy Atlas also has bespoke features which can help you with scenario planning and can drive efficiencies in strategy development.
